Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sole separates from shoddy construction. I love the look of these boots and they are very comfortable, but as an earlier reviewer stated, the soles separated quickly. This is not a unique defect as Justin implied to their review but a shoddy design flaw. The stitching of the sole is below the leather so that you wear through the stitching before the leather. This results in a boot that looses its sole weeks into their use as did mine. The only way to avoid this is to have a rubber half sole put on them as soon as you purchase to avoid wearing through the exposed stitching. That just adds more cost to a boot that should have been made correctly to begin with. Poor workmanship from a company that should know better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Another Lost sole I've had my pair for a couple of months and as stated in several reviews by others my sole likewise has begun to separate from the boot it is indeed a problem with the stitching. I really don't think i should have to purchase a sole replacement for my boots within two months of medium wear. I expected better from such a respected boot company. I'm in the service industry so my income is hardly vast and when I buy a boot I expect it to be an investment for years to come. I would have no qualms if the sole had begun to deteriorate after a minimum of a year however two months of wear is simply not a good product design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 23 year old boots I never write reviews but 23 year old boots deserve recognition! I tried to post a picture but the image was too large. Maybe in 1993-1994 there was better quality, however they look exactly the same as pictured minus the weathered look which makes them look even better. These boots have been around longer than my kids! I don't wear them daily but they are beat up and very rugged looking, they fit better as they age. I get more compliments on them today as I ever have. I really can't say anything bad about them. I think I have changed the laces out 4 or 5 different times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this style I had this style in Women's boot's for 15 years or so when I went to buy them again you had discontinued them. It saddened me as they were the most comfortable boots I had ever worn. May I make a suggestion to Y'all? start making these for Women again. They last forever is the reason the demand is so low. I guess I will have to buy a pair of men's and hope for the best (wink). This won't be the first time and it won't be the last I'm sure. Thank You for years of outstanding products. P.S. IF you have never worn a pair of boot's or are a women that has never worn men's boot's go to your local shoe store that caries men's boot's and try them on until you get a comfortable fit. A size to size and 1/2 down same width or one down as well ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't quit making a great thing... I bought these in May & it is my second pair that I have owned! I just love these boots, as they fit me like a glove, make me feel confident & I can literally do anything I would like to do in them, as they have a low comfortable heel & arch. They are black & go w/ any type of pants, whether that be w/ dress pants, casual pants or blue jeans, it does not matter. They are awesome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 22 years of reliability! I bought my ropers 22 years ago for $70. I have had them resoled 4 times. Finally the leather at my pinky toe is tearing. :( I absolutley love these boots! The inside sole did come off about 2 years ago, but I already adored them so i took them to a local leather/shoe repair shop and Voila! All fixed! Time to buy a new pair for double the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I bought these boots in February a local store here ordered them for me and two months ago the sole separated from the boot. I'm so upset I had a Justin lace up Ropers that I had for 20 years. I had to have them resoled but nothing like this. For me to buy a pair of boots is not easy I had to save up for them and now I feel like the craftsmanship is not what it was and I'm very upset. I always told people Justin boots are worth it. But now I have second thoughts.

Boot Fit Tips

Because boots don't have laces, proper fit is all about the instep.
Boots should feel snug in this area, but not tight.
If the instep is too tight, go for a wider or bigger size.

The widest part of the foot is called the ball (it's where you bend your foot when you walk or run).
Make sure the ball of your foot lines up with the the ball of the boot (that's the widest part of the boot where the steel shank ends).
If the boot is too short, your toes will be forced into the toe box.

Boots should slip slightly in the heel. Boots are built in such a way that there's nothing to keep your heel from riding up a bit.
As you wear the boot, the sole will become more flexible and most of the slippage will disappear with time.
If the instep is too loose, the boot will slip too much, which means that you need a narrower or smaller size boot.
